Meet Megan

Program Director | megan@moveinclusivedance.com

Growing up, I always had a passion for dancing and movement. I constantly surrounded myself with music through song and dance, but it wasn’t until I was in high school that I thought about making a career of it. I had the opportunity to volunteer at various special education camps, and it opened my eyes to this diverse world.

In 2013, I received my dance education degree and began teaching a high school inclusion class with students with various disabilities - Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and multiple nonverbal disabilities. I grew in ways that I could not have ever dreamed of and adjusted my teaching to fit the needs of my students. I was inspired and determined to connect my dance background with special education.

I went on to receive my Master’s in special education in 2016 and began my journey of working in the school system. My practice focused on elementary students with disabilities. I provided them with support in academia and life skills while incorporating movement that connected to their curriculum. While navigating and adjusting to this new role, I found value in what I was doing and wanted to push myself further in my career, so I became Nationally Board Certified in Exceptional Needs.

At MOVE Inclusive Dance, my students often teach me more than I teach them through their compassion and kindness. I am fortunate enough to be able to do what I love while positively impacting the lives of our dancers.
